Ignition- Fire Within by Ally Shields

Mea Culpa. I am an Ari addict. From the first time I read Ally Shields’s (http://allyshields.com)Awakening the Fire (Guardian Witch #1), I’ve been a fan of this smart, tough, sexy, and gifted witch. Her world is full of characters at least as special as she is, and her guy heats a room even if his vampire body temperature is not “body temperature.”
The problem with being an Arianna addict is, unlike chocolate and Cheezits, you can’t go buy a case of Guardian Witch books so you never run out. You have to wait for the next book! YEOW!
But here’s the good news: The second in the Guardian Witch series has hit the ‘e-presses’! YES!! And I have Ally Shields here to chat with us.
Q: Ally, you do wonderful interviews on your blog with other authors around Coffee Chats. What kind of coffee does Ari drink? Has she tried Bluegrass Sundown? It’s a coffee bourbon liqueur that is this side of heavenly with a bit of hot water and a good dollop of cream on top. Kind of a Kentucky version of Irish Coffee.
Ally: Thanks for your comments about the coffee chats. I’ve had some great people to interview. But getting back to your question, Ari drinks her coffee black. I doubt if she’s tried Bluegrass Sundown, but it sure sounds good to me. 🙂 I love Baileys & coffee.
Q: What new mystery is Ari handling in Fire Within?
Ally: The story begins with her reporter friend Eddie under arrest for allegedly murdering a vampire. He confessed, but his confession doesn’t make much sense to Ari. She sets out to find out what really happened. And, of course, things go downhill from there…
Q: Is Ryan still her partner? Or anything more?
Ally: Yes, Ryan is still her partner and liaison with the human police force. They’ll be working on the murder case together. Sorry, if you were hoping for a little romance. Ari still treats him like an older brother. No sparks.
Q: What’s happening with Andreas and Ari? (Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?)
Ally: Well, there are plenty of sparks between those two, but when we last saw them their relationship had shattered. Although Andreas is a continuing character in the series, I can’t reveal what happens between the two. Vampires and witches are a problematic mix at best, and it will be hard for Ari to let herself trust him.
Q: Will there be a Book 3?
Ally: Book 3 entitled Burning Both Ends is already written and headed into edits. I anticipate it will be released this summer. Book 4 is also completed and under contract, and I’m just starting Book 5.
