Ashes to Ashes and See Rock City

Ashes to Ashes and See Rock City
17 April 2013
So today is ‘muzzle deep in the birthday cake’ day. Which means my ability to concentrate is pretty limited to making it to dessert for BIRTHDAY CAKE.
I was born a couple of eons ago on an Easter Sunday. Which as a child I thought was auspicious. I was going to be Very special. Alas, I never grew the requisite Easter Bunny ears or the ability to leave chocolate eggs all over Creation on Easter mornings. Although I did grow a deep affection for chocolate and peanut butter eggs, and a desire to catch the real Easter Bunny and force her to give me Chocolate and Peanut Butter eggs, all of them, and never let me get fat from eating- ALL of Them.
Birthdays are a count down, a remembering back, and a start to a whole new adventure.
Today is all of those. I’m getting closer to the grave. No getting around that. Well, there might have been had I morphed into the Easter Bunny, but … So counting down. Like this blue wicker rocker that aged into the ivy as it sat in the garden. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Years ago The Prince Consort, Professor Daughter (back when she was High School Daughter- known to me as ‘Please, God, let me live through her teenage. Don’t let my own mother’s curse -“May you have a daughter just like you.” do me in’ daughter, and I went to see Rock City. The Prince Consort was focused on getting a bird house with See Rock City on the side, just like the barns in the countryside in the South. They were out.
This week TPC did garden magic. He made this cool flower pot tower. I got to help. I rescued the birdhouse from the Ashes to Ashes rocker. He painted it.
And then he surprised me. He made it into the See Rock City bird house he’d always wanted. Cool.
Just like the birdhouse has new life, a new adventure and a connection to our past, I’m working on my favorite manuscript for the May CBAY contest. It’s only two weeks until the public online voting for the contest begins. This is a whole new adventure. I might at last take all my love for writing, all my scribbling, and become book-published. I might become an author. New adventure grown from a life of adventures.
